I really do not recall when this demonstration happened but it must have been in the mid- to late-80s. The locale is, of course, Oxford Street, the centre then of gay culture. In these photos you have two opposing groups of citizens: gay-rights supporters and members of the evangelical section of the Christian community.
One group is the libertarian faction, the other the right-of-centre vocal moral bloc.
One group is on the side of the angels, the other on the side of reaction.
The libertarians crowd the park opposite St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst.
