Joao Luis da Silva

His father, Luis Antonio da Silva (b. 1878, d. 1926), is the city’s Commissioner of Police. His mother is Maria Nazare Ribeiro (b. 1882, d. 1922).

Soon after arriving in Melbourne Joao Luis becomes a staunch Carlton supporter. Demonstrating his ability to assimilate, as soon as 1925 he marries Phyllis Elsie Pearl Caldicott (b. 1906 in Sydney, d. 1996 in Sydney).
