We live in a mechanised world, we rely on machines, regret their existences, thank them for their service. Every moie ever made has either a gun or a car in it. What kind of life could we lead in their absence? Gold 4WD examines life in a world of persistent mechanisation where numbers are the language of control and control is the manifestation of joy. This work was made for inclusion in a show at Gallery 59 in Goulburn, Mar 24.
Coming together symptomatic of something like relevance. On 1 December 2020, amid domestic stability – despite moving house – I assembled, from folders labelled with years, many of the poems needed to make a sequence of sonnets. The book evolved further in 2024 when I incorporated two sequences of longer poems. Short, 6-line poems were added that were made starting in 2021. This book was made for inclusion in Tiliqua Tiliqua's small works show Dec 24.'
